In Norse mythology the valkyries (Old Norse Valkyrja "Choosers of the Slain") are female deities, who served Odin. The valkyries' purpose was to choose the most heroic of those who had died in battle and to carry them off to ValhallaI envisioned a warrior, goddess-type typically seen in comics complete with bustier armor. This is what I came up with:

Your drawings are so detailed it drives me crazy...only because I haven't got the patience to do it myself (believe me, I've tried).
This is very cool! :) There are various interpretations of what Valkyries look like (and there is actually a superhero named that, through Marvel Comics, I believe) and it's always exciting to see a new interpretation of a mythological figure.
I found you through Michelle Wiebe's blog. :)
Take care,
I.
That is so cool. LOVE IT.
Thanks, you guys. This is another one of those things I rarely do, but when asked, have the impetus to give it a go. Seems this is the way for me to get stuff done.
Details...hmmm - still haven't figured out why I always go down that particular rabbit hole, but it just happens - sometimes against my will.
Looser would be nice for a change.
Hi Cheryl,
I have the same dilemma with details! I took to finger painting to force myself to be looser. I think it's working, although I've figured out a loop (rabbit) hole--the larger the canvas, the more detail I can work in with my thick fingers! :)
Take care,
I.
Interesting that you say so, Ivan. One of my current paintings (see May 1st post) was done almost entirely with fingers at that point. And, low and behold - lots of folks, including me loved it so much that there were cries to stop there. Maybe if I didn't think so much, relaxed a little more, I could just stop there.
Hmmmm.......
